Vincent Street - Pedestrian Crossing Works over Rail Line

The Shire has been advised that work will commence on Monday 18 May to the pedestrian crossings over the railway line on Vincent Street. Traffic management will be in place to assist with footpath closures as required. To minimise disruption along the main street, each crossing will be completed individually. The work is expected to take 8-10 working days. There will be some car parks that will be unavailable for parking for the duration of the works.
The work differs materially from John Street. The primary intent of the Vincent Street works is to modify existing pathway levels to ensure pedestrian surface falls are directed away from the rail corridor, together with the installation of compliant tactile ground surface indicators in accordance with current accessibility requirements. There will be no reduction in the existing pathway width. There should be improved safety outcomes for visually impaired pedestrians approaching the railway interface. It is not expected that barrier fencing will be installed.
