Important Fire Dates

Firebreaks

To be installed by 1st November each year and maintained until 15th April the following year.

Firebreaks on all land in the Shire are required in accordance with the Shire’s Fire Break Order, click here to view and download.

Prohibited Burning

No fires allowed in the open 1 November until 14 February the following year (Unless otherwise notified)

Unrestricted Burning

1 April - 2 October

If you are in doubt about whether to burn or not  check with your Fire Control Officer.

Restricted Burning

A permit to burn is required.

3 October - 1 November 

14 February - 31 March

(Extensions to restricted burning times may be approved).

Applying for a Permit

To apply for a permit, please follow the following steps:

If you are unable to apply for a Permit online yourself, please visit the Beverley CRC (141 Vincent St) who can assist you to submit an application. Alternatively you may be able to get a friend or family member to assist you to submit the application online.

Please be aware that an application for a Permit to Burn can take up to 48 hours to approve so please take this time frame into account when deciding when you wish to burn.

Note: Burn start date must be at least three working days from the application date (for example if you wish to burn on the weekend the application needs to be made on Wednesday or before). Burn End Date must be a maximum of 14 days from Start Date.

Step 1 - Click on "Apply for Fire Permit Online" button (located below after step 5)

Step 2 - Complete the Online Form

Fill in the application and provide as much detail as possible.

Step 3 - Submit the Form

Once you have finished entering all your details, click the Submit button and the application will be sent via email for processing by our staff.

Step 4 - Application Review

Once the permit is received and processed. A Bush Fire Control Officer will fill in any additional conditions and issue a Permit number and send you an email  copy of the signed Permit .

If the details of the permit need to be clarified your local Bush Fire Control Officer will contact you to get further details or book in a time to inspect your burn and approve the permit.

Step  5 - Read and Follow all Conditions on the Permit

Call DFES Communications Centre on 9395 9209 to register your burn. Your burn will be placed on the www.emergency.wa.gov.au website to keep the public informed and reduce potential 000 calls.

Harvest Bans And Extreme Fire Danger Warnings

No burning whatsoever is permitted on days of VERY HIGH or EXTREME FIRE DANGER or where WINDS EXCEED 20 km/hr. Harvest bans and the prohibiting of vehicle movement in paddocks are broadcasted daily on RadioWest and ABC radio or by contacting the HARVEST BAN HOTLINE on 9646 0145.

Dress Standard for Fighting Fires

The minimum standard of dress for ALL persons attending a fire is:

  • LONG PANTS
  • LONG SLEEVE SHIRT
  • BOOTS

Any person not conforming to this standard will be requested by the Fire Control Officer to vacate the area.
