Important Fire Dates
Firebreaks:
To be installed by 15th November each year and maintained until 15th April the following year.
Firebreaks on all land in the Shire are required in accordance with the Shire’s Fire Break Order. Click here to download a copy of the Order.

Prohibited Burning:
No fires allowed in the open 1st November until 14th February the following year.
Restricted Burning:
A permit is required to burn - Please contact your Fire Control Officer here. (Extensions to restricted burning times may be approved)
3rd October - 31st October
15th February - 29th March
Unrestricted Burning:
Subject to evaluation.
30th March - 2nd October
If you are in doubt about whether to burn or not PLEASE check with your Fire Control Officer.

Harvest Bans and Extreme Fire Danger Warnings
No burning whatsoever is permitted on days of VERY HIGH or EXTREME FIRE DANGER or where WINDS EXCEED 20KM/HR. Harvest bans and the prohibiting of vehicle movement in paddocks are broadcast daily on Radio West and ABC radio or by contacting the HARVEST BAN HOTLINE on 9646 0145.
Dress Standard for Fighting Fires
The minimum standard of dress for ALL persons attending a fire is:
- LONG PANTS
- LONG SLEEVE SHIRT
- BOOTS
Any person not conforming to this standard will be requested by the Fire Control Officer to vacate the area.
